OSTEOPATHY

What happens on my first visit?

This is similar to that with any Registered Medical Practitioner. The osteopath will want to know how the symptoms began and factors that affect them. After a complete medical history is taken you will normally be asked to remove some appropriate clothing.
A thorough examination is undertaken which may include Orthopaedic, Neurological, Cardiovascular, Respiratory examinations etc.
Following from this, a thorough investigation of the patients posture and musculoskeletal system will lead to a diagnosis.

On occasion further investigations such as X-rays, blood tests, MRI scanning etc may be required. Please bring details of any medications currently being prescribed or any clinical information you have (such as x-rays, medical reports etc).

Your clinical findings, diagnosis, appropriate course of action and treatment for your specific problem will be fully explained and where appropriate a time scale projected for your recovery. The osteopath may also prescribe exercise programmes to both improve flexibility, strength and core stability as well as advising on workspace ergonomics, nutrition and lifestyle etc

If you are unsuitable for osteopathic care, you will be appropriately referred.

You will be given an outline treatment plan on your first consultation and your progress continually monitored.

Osteopathic examination, treatment and advice are aimed at providing a uniquely tailored treatment plan to fit your schedule,
preventing
recurrence and maximising your recovery!
